MS Society is a national charity which supplies support, information and counselling for anyone affected by MS. It produces the magazine MS Matters and has branches nationwide. Helpline 0808 800 8000, www.mssociety.org.uk

MS Trust provides information to people affected by MS. It has a monthly e-newsletter called MS Monthly. mstrust confidential helpline and MS information services

MS-UK (formerly known as The Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre) promotes choice by providing information and support to anyone with MS, whether they wish to take disease modifying drugs, complementary therapies, make lifestyle changes, or a mix of these, or to do nothing. Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis (OMS) is an organisation set up by Australian Professor George Jelinek (who has MS himself) which promotes a positive lifestyle programme to counter MS and summarises the latest scientific information on MS worldwide. www.overcomingms.org

Disability Charities

Motability is the mobility scheme that enables disabled people to get mobile by exchanging their mobility allowance to lease a new car, a scooter or powered wheelchair. 0300 456 4566, www.motability.co.uk

RiDC, the Research Institute for Disabled Consumers, is a charity that researches and publishes information on products for disabled and older people ranging from mobility aids to washing machines and ovens. 020 7427 2460, www.ridc.org.uk

Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) is a charity that provides impartial advice, information and training on equipment for independent living and mobility products. Helpline 0300 999 0004, www.dlf.org.uk
